When I and my now fiance started talking about “the” ring,we came down to downtown Jewelry district for the first time.I DIDN’T LIKE IT,,,I know I know just by putting their name on,they sell 10 times more expensive at those brands name store. But what can I say,I’m Japanese and we care names.Oh well after 7 + years being in the US,I’m changing but I still am pretty Japanese.I buy clothe from H&M,forever, but also I love Louis Vuitton,Chanel,,,that’s me.So anyway I didn’t know where to go when my BF(now fiance) asked me what kind of ring(band) I like,I told him let’s go to downtown. We went to random store…those stores were not something I could dream my special ring : ( I’m sorry, but the people didn’t dress nice, and store wasn’t pretty.I didn’t want my special ring to come from them. They don’t even display their jewelry beautifully – well I have to say, after this experience,we went to many different Jeweler in town, not only in downtown but many places, but there was only one another place I liked besides Eli’s.Pros: Eli’s Jewelry is clean.Door with buzzer. They dress nice. They have mints on the counter. Organized and all the Jewelry looks beautiful. That day, after we left downtown we went to BH,all the name brands store.I went to some alone too,but I didn’t see the ring I like.Because I wanted yellow gold ring!!!Most of those brands name store didn’t have what I want.Pros: If you get brands name ring, you might see someone who is wearing exactly same design ring, but with Jeweler like Eli,you can pretty much customize it!And I’d say, they are REALLY patient. My fiance told me he went back 3 times to buy my ring. Then,we went together twice…I’m telling you,my fiance is pretty picky and could be veeery pain in the —–!He won’t like anything unless it matches his standard.I saw someone wrote in his reviw that they treat customer all equal, either you are buying $500 or $50000 ring and I think that’s true : )My fiance gave me my ring before the holiday season,so it was busy season.I didn’t like the idea of not having my ring for long time(we made some change and got resized) – they told us on the phone it’ll take about 10 days. But after 5 days we drop off my ring,it was ready!Pros: Fast job!!!Now I’m extremely happy with my ring,I call it it’s the most beautiful ring ever existed! Well,it came from my fiance, and it’s exactly how I wanted!…Well actually better, because my fiance chose something different from what I originally wanted, but that happen to be even better!Oh another thing.I think my fiance went to 13 + Jeweler in town.We went 7 + together. So he chose Eli…from 20 + Jeweler,I’d say? ; )
My Mother in Law has been heading to Eli’s for over 30 years for a reason. Their service is phenomenal and they welcome everyone with a giant smile. I love going here and visiting while browsing their huge selection. Our wedding rings came from Eli’s and they are of the highest quality and custom made. Whenever ?I get a chance I head back to get them cleaned by Ralphie because I don’t trust anyone else with my rings. If I ever need new jewelry I will head to Eli’s and that is a huge feat since we now live in Dallas.
if you want to experience very awkward moments, snooty, condescending, and PUSHY workers/owners, or feelings of being rushed……this is definitely the place to go!!
My fabulous boyfriend decided to be spontaneous on a saturday morning by surprising me with a trip to the jewelry district. He said we were going to go look at engagement rings so we can educate ourselves as well as….in his words…letting me pick the “peeeerfect” ring. I was ecstatic and excited and touched but at the same time I thought he was either high on drugs, drunk or both. My boyfriend is the sh*t when it comes to planning stuff and always always does his homework before doing anything. He already had a list of different jewelry stores that had nothing but 5 star ratings on yelp. so off we went. we arrived at Eli’s Jewelry and what a horrible experience it was.COMPLAINTS: – the guy kept bringing out diamonds that were ridiculously priced…..like something a damn millionaire or celebrity would be able to afford. – we could not get a word in because he kept going on and on about how we would not be able to find these types of diamonds at any other store because their diamonds are the “best.”- he kept saying sh*t like “well you can get a better diamond for a higher price.” no sh*t you dweeb……i think that’s common sense. not everyone has a million dollars UGH!- he was way to pushy. he kept asking me “okay so now which diamond do you like?” and i was soooo irritated because he only showed me TWO diamonds.- i kept telling them…..this is the FIRST store we’re visiting and the first time EVER here at the jewelry district looking at engagement rings. and he kept asking me sooo do you know how many carats you want? do you know which setting you want? do you know what cut you want? – after showing us million dollar diamonds, we asked him to show us some diamonds that were in my boyfriend’s price range….and you could tell he had this look on his face as if he was insulted and disgusted we’d even ask such a thing.- i almost collapsed when my boyfriend first told me the price range for my ring because he’s super shiesty and cheap for the most part and throws little hissy fits and starts huffin and puffin when it comes to his money. so to me…..it was very insulting when the worker would not work with us and kept showing us diamonds that were not realistic for us knowing what my boyfriends price range was.eff this place!!!!!!p.s. the older lady in the store who is probably the mom….she’s very sweet ?but very annoying also.
Okay, I’m gonna hack into Yelp somehow and change it so I can give ‘em SIX stars. ?These guys are worth it. ?No joke. ?Quick things to keep in mind: the awesome Eli jr. is a major fan of lava cake (he’s always got some of the TJ’s ones in their freezer). ?Raffi is the stylish first man of jewelry. And their mom, Artemis, is great, and will make sure you’ve got coffee and chocolates if you need.Look, I’m just a dude, I don’t know from from engagement rings, I’m nervous about the whole situation. ?I got a diamond I inherited from my grandmother, and that’s about it. ?The jewelry district can be a little overwhelming if you’re not in the biz. ?So I check Yelp and find Eli’s, along with a few other places with good ratings. ?Head down to the district, and check it out.First of all, you can tell Eli’s is the place with the best Yelp reviews, because in the whole building full of jewelers, his is the one filled with, well – let’s call it a Yelp crowd. ?Lots of young, somewhat hip couples.I’ll try not to bore you with too many details, but we wanted a custom ring made with that diamond. ?Raffi spent HOURS going over this with us in detail. ?One session alone was three hours long, and we went back three times or so. ?To make sure we had a ring for my fiancee’s HS reunion, he had one made as a stopgap loaner ring, then we came back after the reunion and he made us the real ring. What I love about these guys is that they spent as much, or more time, with us – a couple who ended up just spending a few hundred dollars on a ring – as they did with couples in there that I heard discussing rings costing well over ten thousand bucks. ?Can’t recommend them highly enough. ?Six stars, I tell ya!
We got my engagement ring and wedding band at Eli’s and I cannot explain how much I love my rings. ?I love it so much!!! ?Eli and Rafi does know what you want more than you know what you want. ?I went in thinking that I want this knock off version of De Beer’s The Promise ring but instead I got a beautiful band with engraving on top, bottom and the band where the diamonds are not on the back. ?Which I thought was beautiful and it made it extra special. ?I was going to have diamonds around the entire band because I don’t like the extra blank spot on the back on the band if it is only 3/4 or 1/2 way around the band. ?Eli and Rafi didn’t recommend it because you can’t resize the ring if you have diamonds all around. ?So I took their advice and got 3/4. ?When I got my ring and saw the engraving on the back, I was so happy. ?I can’t believe they took an extra step and engraved it. ?I love it! ?We will be back to get my fiance’s wedding band here after the Valentine’s day rush. ?Don’t listen to the other reviewers about them being snooty or condescending. ?I think those customers are just way too sensitive. ?Eli and Rafi are both very nice guys who knows what they are doing and talking about.
buying an engagement ring with no previous experience with diamonds was scary, so, I did my research, went to a few places, and then found myself at Eli’s. I very much appreciated their patience and no pressure service. I also appreciated being able to select the diamond and setting separately. I went in expecting to just look, but found exactly what I was looking for, and for a better price than I was seeing at other places. After proposing we went back in to get the ring re-sized. It only took 2 hours, and they did it for free. It was a good, no stress experience, which wasn’t at all what I was expecting buying an engagement ring.
I can’t say enough good things about this place. My fiance recently purchased my engagement ring from here. The ring is absolutely GORGEOUS! My fiance said they were very patient, helpful and he felt like they really had his best interest in mind. I had to go back 2 weeks later to get my ring fitted and I couldn’t agree more. The workers were really nice and took their time making sure I was properly fitted. It only took 2 hours for the fitting and the best part was it was free! We are most definitely going back there for our wedding bands.
Awful service. Did not say one word to us. Waited 15 minutes and then left.
I decided to visit Eli’s with my fiance for an engagement ring after reading all the positive reviews. The environment and non-pressure atmosphere was extremely refreshing. My fiance and I had already been to numerous other shops throughout California and had grown tired of the aggressive tactics used by other jewelers. What set Eli’s above and beyond all others was there attention to detail and patience. My fiance was very adamant about the setting that she wanted and since what she wanted was unique, it would have to be custom made. Eli was very attentive to what my fiance desired with regards to the elegance, delicateness, etc. After some time perusing their extensive ring selection, my fiance and Eli were able to pull about 4 rings together to come up with the setting that she wanted. As for the actual diamond, the quality and price was far better than that which is offered through http://bluenile.com. Again, Eli was very patient, showed me multiple diamonds over a two hour period. At no point did I feel pressured to make a rushed decision. I was ultimately able to pick the diamond that I wanted thanks to Eli. My fiance and I could not be any happier. I will continue to recommend them.
I went shopping here for an engagement ring for my girlfriend. I had a few recommendations from friends on places to go in the downtown jewelry district of Los Angeles. I went to the recommended places and figured i would also try the listings on Yelp. Eli’s had a 5 star rating so I figured I would try it. I had a very strict budget and have been shopping for engagement rings for quite a while so i knew what i was looking for and what i wanted, also i knew what i should be getting for the price i had set. Upon walking into the store it is very small, with only two chairs to sit down at. Viewing diamonds takes a long time and it was kind of a bummer i had to stand there awkwardly while waiting for the seller to get diamonds out and call his supplier. I dealt with two people, an older woman and a middle aged man (presumably “Eli”). My experience with the man were fine, he seemed to listen to my needs and my strict budget. He did the normal salesman pitch of saying “With more money you can get better”, well duh, if i could spend $10,000 i would, but i can’t. Anyway’s he did his best to find me a diamond but in the end he couldn’t come through with something i was happy with. Now, the reason for the 2 star rating had mostly to do with the annoying older woman present. Now i am not a woman hater or a chauvinist, i am just being honest. She interrupted multiple times, kept saying things like “You will be very happy with us. We only give good diamonds. You spend more money you get prettier diamond.” It was not a pleasant experience to have this random lady jumping in and offering her advice when it was obvious she just wanted to make a sale. ?Overall, the place had a small selection for the smaller budget and the woman was way too pushy for my liking.
My fianc and I went to Eli’s because of all the great reviews here. We wanted wedding bands and we had in mind a specific price, style and we wanted them to match. We were approached by Rafi who gave us his undivided attention. He showed us some antiquing on wedding bands and quoted a price. It was a little higher then I wanted to spend so we went to other places. We went to another place nearby and for the same set, they quoted a price twice as high. After that we went to Icing on the Ring in the same building and the salesman was pushy, and once he saw I wasn’t buying in to his crap, he ignored me and would only speak to my fianc. They were overpriced and didn’t have what we were looking for and the salesman tried to talk us out of our plan to get matching rings. After all this, we went running back to Rafi, as it turns out his prices were very good, and the quality great. He remembered us, and we were ?able to negotiate the ring price down even further, and he even included extra gold. (Hint: Bring cash) We picked up our rings two weeks later and they are beautiful, and intricately engraved on 3 sides. These rings would retail for three times the price we paid with Rafi and they provide great customer service.
My boyfriend and I did not purchase any rings when we went to Eli’s, but I’m hoping that he decides to buy my engagement ring setting + diamond here at Eli’s!Eli Jr. was the person who helped us during our visit, and he was wonderful to work with. ?He brought out some really beautiful diamonds for us to check out and compare, and I can tell that he really knows his stuff about diamonds and settings! ?Just from a couple comments about my likes and dislikes he was able to pick out some great settings that I loved, unlike the people at a suite nearby in the jewelry mart (won’t say their name…) I would definitely trust him to help my boyfriend pick out the perfect ring for me.After checking out Eli’s we checked out a couple other places in the building, but I liked Eli’s customer service the most!
I wanted to wait a bit after my purchase to make sure our rings held up and that service wouldn’t be an issues. It has now been over a year since we purchased our wedding rings from Eli’s and we couldn’t be happier. When we purchased them, there was no pressure, no hassle, and no fear of being ripped off. If you wonder the creepy halls of the lower floors of the jewelery district, you’ll find peace at Eli’s. So far, we’ve needed no extra work done on our rings Wedding Jewelry, even though they offered free adjustments and cleanings. I will continue to recommend them to anyone who asks. Plus they have the best name of any shop in town.
Before I bought an engagement ring, just like most people I too went on yelp to see what the crowds had to say about the different jewelers and shops throughout Los Angeles, NY, Chicago,San Diego and Vegas. The world says to learn about the 4C’s. In reality there isn’t much to learn about them. It’s very simply and straight forward. Now, when you really want to become educated (as educated as a normal person can get), learn about table %, crown angle, pavilion angle, girdle, culet, the variation between what a proper table % to a depth percentage should be.) I read people speak highly about one jeweler and in that same review speak negative about another. The world of diamonds is one where there is 1 simple rule: You will never ever find the same exact stone in a different shop (unless it’s transferred or delivered). Diamonds are like humans, nobody is ever exactly like another person. So keep that in mind when you search. In my case, I saw some great stones. I spoke to some very knowledgeable people. Yes, there were some people that were kinda shady and strange. But there were others whom were straightforward and helpful. My search was a little more unique than most (at least I think so). I was looking for a center stone in the 2+ carat category that was entirely colorless and had great clarity. At the end of the day, after seeing around 15 stones, I had narrowed the search to two stones. Eli’s jewelry had one of them. In fact, they had the one that I liked the most. I liked it the most because of everything that I wrote about in paragraph 2. Plus, it didn’t have the crushed ice look which some stones have and there was no fluorescence. I spent some time doing hw on diamonds. And regardless of how much I learned, neither I or anyone else that is a “normal” person will ever really know all there is to know about diamonds. Before I actually went into the shops I called about 6 places. Of those 6, Eli’s Jewelry was the ONLY place that called me back when they said they would with info and a list of stones for me to look at. Other places did call me back but only after they read a review that I had left on yelp. So for starters, I appreciated that very much. To get back to Eli’s Jewelry. The shop is right outside the elevator on the 2nd floor. Eli is a friendly guy. Very kind and knowledgeable about so so many aspects of life and other professions. I liked speaking to him. He wasn’t threatening at all or aggressive. Very passive and kind. Raffi is a fashionista in his super suave attire. Also very knowledgeable. Make an appointment when you need to speak to him or you will wait FOREVER! But their mother is the heart of the place. She adds a touch of home to the shop. Everyone that I saw walk into the shop seemed to really know the family. They are obviously doing something right . And it is a lot more than just selling rings and diamonds. They have some great stones. They obviously have a lot of customers because of the work that they do. A very personable touch to the shop is how they post pictures and cards of customers on a wall. When you know what you want and what you are looking for you can find it. It’s out there. Do your homework and you’ll know what to look for. I am very difficult to work with in many aspects. I would not have bought a ring from this shop if I didn’t feel comfortable enough. So congrats to Eli’s Jewelry for having the best stone of all the stones that I looked at. I am very very very hard to please and you guys did great. I will return to get other things from you. I promise I will return better educated and tougher than the first time.
But I will also return because working with you was a good experience and because I loved your mama!
Eli’s doesn’t really need my review as there are many other detailed and lengthy positive reviews. ?So instead I will offer a couple tips in case someone finds it useful.First, Eli’s is very popular for diamond wedding rings. In fact, that is the majority of what you will find there. ?If you are in the market for a diamond engagement ring, then this is a place to look.Second, you need to know what you want before you go. ?It’s not a large store and not a lot of inventory on display, very busy with customers. So do your browsing and figuring out what you want beforehand. ?If you know the size, cut, quality and setting that you want, then they will be ready to work with you and give you options within those parameters. Also, be certain to price stones at several places. You need to be an informed shopper when you are dealing with a diamond wholesaler.Third, Eli’s carries Majorica pearls. Majorica pearls are man-made synthetic pearls, but not just any man-made pearls. I visited the Majorica pearl factory on the island of Mallorca, Spain, many years ago, and observed the detailed attention that each pearl gets as they each are worked on by hand as part of the process. ?The Majorica pearl process was started on Mallorca in 1890, and not a lot has changed since then. You don’t often find these beauties consistently in one place, so it is worthwhile to note that Eli’s carries a selection of them.I didn’t purchase anything at Eli’s, and I didn’t have a particularly great experience there, but if any of the above 3 points applied to me, then I would definitely consider Eli’s as a must go.
Eli’s Jewelry is where I found the perfect engagement ring. Thanks to Eli and his family, my fiance has a beautiful diamond ring. She loves it. It is everything she wanted and more. She hasn’t been able to take her eyes off of it for the past two months. Now we’re shopping for wedding bands for our wedding next year. Because they have made us so happy, I want to tell everyone about Eli’s Jewelry. They are quite possibly the best in all of Los Angeles, maybe the best jeweler in all of California. If you are reading this, you are where I was just a few months ago. When I started shopping around for a diamond ring, I knew I wanted the best quality and service at the best price–and I was not going to settle for anything less. I did my research, learned the “4 C’s,” etc. Then I talked to my friends, all of whom gave me great advice. So I spent about two weeks driving around the Southern California, visiting different jewelers, and looking at lots and lots of diamonds. I knew that the Tiffany’s style solitaire she wanted could be purchased just about anywhere–and for a lot less money than what you would spend at a Tiffany’s store. In total I must have visited close to twenty different jewelry stores in Los Angeles. Then I found Eli’s. Eli is terrific. Before I even stepped foot in the store, he took the time to chat with me over the phone about buying a ring and to schedule an appointment for me to look through their inventory of loose diamonds. By the time I made my first visit to their store in the Jewelry District, I had already met with dozens of salespeople and seen over one hundred diamonds, yet Eli stood out from the rest. I was very skeptical of charming salespeople at the other stores. This time, I finally felt like I had met someone honest who I could trust would help me get the perfect diamond engagement ring for the right price. That trust made the difference. And I wouldn’t be spending my time writing this review if I wasn’t so grateful for the trust I found with Eli. And, gentlemen, believe me when I say that you can trust Eli’s Jewelry more than any other jeweler in all of Los Angeles–because I met them all! Everything I read about Eli’s was true. Yes, for quality, price, and service, Eli’s is the best. Just take a look for yourself. The reviews are overwhelmingly positive–ALL FIVE STARS. (And don’t forget to read the “filtered” reviews. Many first-time Yelp reviewers have written about their positive experiences with Eli’s but the Yelp site is blocking those reviews because in some cases those are their only reviews. I see that as a testament to how much their customers love and appreciate their business.) Truth be told, I was not so crazy about buying my girl a ring down in the Jewelry District. It’s not Rodeo Drive–but then, the folks I saw in Beverly Hills were not as lovely or as sweet as the charming Mrs. C. Yes, the wonderful things people say about her are also very true. About the ring: It is a beautiful Tiffany’s style solitaire 18k yellow gold and six platinum prongs with a round 0.92ct FVS1, triple excellent (cut, symmetry, polish.) Raffy did an amazing job. Eli’s has every style of setting but the one we wanted was the classic Tiffany’s setting. And as much as my fiance and I both loved the Tiffany’s style, we did not like the Tiffany’s price. Now if you’re considering paying the extra money on a Tiffany’s ring, let me tell you something about Tiffany’s: If you think there’s something magical about that little blue box, then you’re as soft as a grape and deserve to be taken in by their pricey marketing campaign. I only say this because, yes I admit it, I was also under the impression that Tiffany’s is the best and that nothing else would do. Well I was wrong.I visited all three Tiffany’s locations in the Westside (Beverly Hills, Century City, and Santa Monica) to see what I could get on my budget. If you’ve ever been to one of their stores, you know they are just an upscale version of a Zales or Jared. The saleswomen showed me some nice rings with some nice stones, all way outside of my price range. The rings that were closer to my budget still had that nice Tiffany’s solitaire setting but with tiny, unimpressive diamonds with hardly any shine or sparkle to them. All in all, Tiffany’s was a very disappointing experience. After I purchased the ring from Eli’s, I went back to Tiffany’s to compare. The only difference I could see was in the price. Eli and his family saved me almost $10,000. Their prices were even lower than what I saw online, Blue Nile included. ?The bottom line is that a diamond is a diamond–and the diamond Eli got for me is out of this world! So if you’re buying a diamond ring, do yourself a favor and go to Eli’s. You will be very happy you did (and so will she.)I want to thank Eli and his family for everything. Thank you so much.
The people at Eli’s are very nice. ?It’s a family run business with a sweet matriarch that really took care of us. ?She joked around with BH and me a lot while we waited for Eli to finish up with his other customers. ?Her humor was a little old fashioned, and some of the things she said even offended me a little (like how she mentioned that I can’t always take take take [in reference to the thousands BH would spend on the engagement ring] but that I would have to give back, by cooking, cleaning, and bearing children for him.) ?She also would say things like how BH won’t give me a ring if I don’t show him good behavior/a good report card. ?Haha. Haha?Anyway, I knew she had good intentions, and I knew she came from another generation, but in addition to that, she didn’t really know much about the diamonds or the business. ?All she could do was show us the settings. ?She couldn’t even show us designs for the rings, since that was Eli’s territory.Eli was very nice and spent time with us while we looked at potential engagement rings, that is when there weren’t other customers. When people would come in for pick-up, he would leave us with his mother and attend to the paying/already paid for customers. ?We understand the business sense in that. ?We also understand that Eli wanted to make sure that his customers got what they wanted and were happy with his work and their purchase, but it also made us seem like we weren’t valued. We spent A LONG time at Eli’s but left feeling like we didn’t gain much out of the experience since four-five different customers interrupted us while we were looking at rings.Eli also didn’t know everything about the diamonds – I guess that was brother #2′s territory (I forgot his name). ?He and mother both had to defer to him for pricing quotes on the diamonds. ?The settings here were beautiful but also a little too steep for us. ?We saw the beautiful work and craftsmanship at IOTR (the settings I saw at IOTR ranged from $1095-$1495) while here, the settings were well over $2k.Overall, nice establishment, great people, but not the place for us.
Eli’s is fantastic! Being a very skeptical person and not knowing anything about diamonds at all, I was very aprehensive about making a a large purchase such as an engagement ring. ?They worked within my budget, educated me to the point where I was comfortable with choosing a ring. No haggling, no upsell, NO pressure! I compared my purchase at Blue Nile (the largest internet site for diamond rings)and Eli’s beat them! I couldnt be happier and recommend ?them to anyone!
I thought I’d write a review since I told them I would do so. About a year ago, I went with a old roommate here when he bought his engagement ring. He was recommended to go here from a friend. I remember they were very friendly and courteous to his needs and budget. So this time I decided to go with them also. On my visit they were very helpful and nice. I told them what I was looking for and the price range I had in mind. I have been doing my research for the past couple of weeks so I knew what kind of diamond specifics and the market price of the ones I was looking for. They showed me multiple diamonds of the size I wanted with different 4C ratings. This was very helpful to compare and weigh out my decision on where I wanted to spend the money on. I ended up not getting the biggest diamond my money could get but rather a good size with near perfect characteristics. I’m glad I did because my fianc loved the ring. She tells me how much she and her friends/family can tell the quality of the diamond. My fianc and I went back there to pick out our wedding bands and we picked out the perfect rings.Overall, they have a great collection of ring styles, GIA diamonds, helpful staff and didn’t feel too pressured or rushed into buying a ring. The sons were very nice and knowledgable, the mother as well but likes to make conversation a lot which we felt hindered me and fianc discussing our options. I know she meant well but having our time and space would have been better. Overall, thank you Eli’s for helping me and my fianc life start out right!
My now fiance got my ring from Eli’s and I absolutely love it! We went in together to pick the setting and they were very patient with us while I tried on a bunch of different settings (I was looking at 3 stone rings). When I found the perfect one, they actually placed it in the back for us so my fiance could come back to pick out the stones! ?I guess he went back a few weeks later and picked out the most perfect stones to make the perfect engagement ring. It is so shiny, I still cannot stop staring at it while I am typing, driving, or doing anything that involves my hands!Eli’s did a perfect job of taking what I wanted and putting their own input to make my perfect engagement ring. It is classic and I know I will love it forever! =) Thank you so much for making a perfect start to our new life together!!
We came to the jewelry district in LA to find our wedding bands. We had a list of about 5 or so jewelers that we visited based on Yelp reviews. This was our last stop, and also our BEST stop! We mostly talked to Raffi, who hooked me up with a great bargain on the ring I loved CZ Jewelry! I was about to settle for a more affordable ring, but when he saw me looking at the one I wanted he promised it to me for the price of the cheaper one. They had to make it special for me due to my teeny fingers (size 2.5!) and I also wanted it made in palladium. No problem! Since they specially make the ring just for you, you can tweak it so it’s just how you want it. I am in love with my ring and couldn’t be happier. My husband got his wedding band here also. Raffi is into artistic flair when it comes to his special rings; he showed us some funky rings that weren’t inside the display case, some of his personal art projects. They were very unique and my husband ended up choosing one of Raffi’s special rings, also in palladium.EVERYONE here was super nice; it’s family owned, and the family is always there. We loved Raffi; he took care of us and got us everything we wanted for a price so low I almost cried. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!
Bonus: ?I brought my fiance’s sister to select the ring and Eli and family were wonderful. ?They put the diamond superficially in the ring and let her walk around with it. ?When I finally picked up the finished ring, I brought along my younger cousin. ?He let her try it on and to be nice, gave her cloth to clean her jewelry. ?She left a happy girl. They’re really such a warm and welcoming bunch of people.
I can safely say that not only was I possibly the Worlds least high maintenance bride, but I was also the biggest procrastinator. 2 days before my wedding we still did not have a wedding band for my husband’s size 14.5 finger. I thought to myself : ” Self, someone downtown will surely have something like that in stock.” HA! Wrong!!!! I read about Eli’s and my save the day BF and I went in there first. They were awesome! We found the ring my husband liked online, he called New York and was able to have it over nighted for pick up the next day. They went above and beyond for me and the price was amazing. I will use them for any jewelry needs.
I recently proposed to my girlfriend Rena this past weekend. I am one of those buyers that has OCD when it comes to buying items. I will research multiple sources and do my homework before I buy anything. I do not like the guilt of feeling like I’ve been ripped off. So, I will begin by telling you my journey to buying my perfect ring and the pitfalls along the way. Why, because I with that I would have had something like I am about to write when I was looking. I should also tell you that I am involved in high end Medical Sales so I am highly trained and successful in multiple selling angles. I only do food reviews, but I was so impressd from my experience at Elis Jewelry that I decided to leave my first non-food review about them. First off, stop by Tiffany first. Why…so you can see how well marketing can influence price of a diamond. Tiffanys is known for their sterling silver. Last time I checked Tiffanys wasnt a diamond mining company. In other words, you are paying for a name. And worse, paying for the name on something that they are not known for. So, if you like to pay $200 for a ferrari umbrella then this is your place. I was at the store about to buy my ring from Tiffanys. All of my friends that bought from them had told me that they felt the buyors remorse after realizing that the diamond they got was overpriced. They could have obtained the same diamond for much cheaper at most diamond ring locations. I almost got taken until I decided to shop around before I committed. I was glad I did. The markup was about 50% higher than Elis.Next, some advice. When you go shopping for diamonds make sure you know what you are looking for. It makes it easier to compare. Next, make sure that you know how to read a GIA report. You need to know not only the 4 C’s but also things such as cut, symmetry, polish, and the diamonds dimensions. This makes a difference because Carat size is not the only thing to look at. The other aspects of a ring distinguish the rings rarity and dictate price. You don’t know these and you are bound to get hustled. I compared the prices of a similar ring from Robbins Brothers, Tustin Jewelry Mart, Costco, Icing on the Ring (Downtown LA), LA Diamond Factory (Downtown LA), Bridal Rings Company (Downtown LA), Tiffanys, Costco and here is my breakdown: Robbins Brothers: Decent prices. Will charge a premium because they offer Engagement services. I came to buy a diamond, so I didn’t feel like paying more for a service I didn’t need help with. Its called google. I didn’t need 10 minutes of advice for a 20% mark up compared to Elis. Costco: Great prices. Big downside is no customization. If you happen to find one you like here then you are the lucky few. Chances are you wont find something you like exactly and you wont want to tell your fiance you bought a 30 pack of beer, a rotisseree chicken, and a diamond ring. Bridal Rings Company: These people will eat your children. They know how to sell. These are highly trained salesmen. Be careful. They will try to convince you that they are the best and pressure you into feeling like you dont know what you are talking about and their price is the best. The markup here was about 30% compared to Elis. La Diamond Factory: The main guy had a unique personality. So unique that it can come off condeseding or rude. Honestly, cause he’s from a different country. Their markup was about 15% compared to Elis. After the initial, wth? is this guys problem feeling, I found them to be helpful, and have good customer service. My number 2 choice in all my searches. Icing on the Ring: Never judge a book by its cover, right? They should have followed this advice and they would have left a better impression with me. First time I came I was ignored. Little did they know that I was a serious buyer. If my tattoes scared them off, great, they lost a sale. The second time I came in they were a bit quicker to help. I was dissappointed at the 20% markup. Overall, one of the worst experiences I had. ELIS JEWELRY: As a career seller it was great to see that a busines goes out of their way to ensure trust in the sales relationship. They showed my the GIA certificate and explained items on the certificate that I overlooked in my earlier searches. He even showed me the laser inscription on the ring. I then realized what makes an ok ring into a great one. Eli is a master at finding great diamonds. Comparing the ring I bought to other locations and it wasn’t even close. My girlfriend loved the Tiffanys ring. It was simple, highlighted the diamond, and according to Tiffanys it was of high quality. They were able to cusomized my ring to look very close to Tiffanys. Except my diamond was of higher quality, looks better, ?and 50%cheaperNot only was my ring overall better quality, but they had the best prices I noticed by far from any retailer. I am very happy with the ring. Everyone that has seen it has asked where we got it. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.s
We have been going to Eli’s since 1985. ?Mind you, we are just regular Joe’s so it’s not like we shop for jewelry all the time; however, when we do ?- we always go to Eli’s. ?They are just great people! ?The service is top notch no matter what your budget. ?You will not be disappointed!I have already planted the seed that I want something bigger for our 20th anniversary and guess where we’ll go for that…you got it….Eli’s!!
Based on the sterling reviews, I was hoping to have a non-traditional engagement ring made here, but they emphasized to me that they specialize in diamonds. I didn’t find the service as wonderful as all the other reviewers here, but these guys seem to know their business well. I will return in the future when I am looking for diamond jewelry.
Just received my engagement ring from Eli’s Jewelry! ?Eli’s is a family jeweler with a fantastic reputation in Los Angeles. My fiance and I looked at many jewelers since February with various qualities of diamonds. After failed trips to overpriced commercial jewelers, Kay and Jared… we decided to check out the LA Jewelry Outlet. The area is alittle sketch, so park close. Eli has the best GIA certified high quality, non-blood diamonds. He is extremely honest and upfront. My exact ring was significantly less expensive than your commercial brands such as Kay’s or Jared. We won’t shop for diamonds anywhere else. This is our jeweler for life. I could not be more happy.
I met Eli and Raffi after having trouble finding what I was looking for at another place. We went to some random jewelry show (absolutely horrific findings) and decided to head to the jewelry district in LA, as many of our friends had been before. Of course, we yelped and Eli’s jumped out with a significant number of positive reviews. We knew we had to check them out.Raffi quickly made a point to tell me that his work is superb, detailed and without flaws. He showed me a ring he made for another bride and I was hooked. My only trouble was that I didn’t want a diamond, and Eli said he could get me stones, but he recommended I look around at stone dealers rather than have him try to blindly guess. (If you are getting a diamond, I do suggest Eli’s as they have beautiful selection of all shapes and sizes and very good prices. We spoke to a few couples there and they were impressed with the price for such high-quality diamonds).I took his advice, and came back a week later with a stone of my choice. Because it was from another dealer, he offered to check weight and clarity. He confirmed the weight and showed us a few flaws that we had already seen (he explained this was similar to leaving your car at the dealer, you have to check for flaws and agree on what was there to begin with). This time, Eli Jr. helped us look for ring settings similar to something I would like. My fiancee and Eli shared some brownies and chatted while I ?looked around. Eventually my fiancee was able to help me find a setting, and Raffi rejoined to help me customize the ring.Wow! He has fine taste in jewelry. I have never designed a ring or jewelry and was so nervous to just pick a stone and ring and hope the two went together well. Raffi recommended a beautiful yellow basket, showed me magazine cutouts with similar custom details and again, I threw my fate to the experienced jeweler. I had chosen an odd-shaped stone and was nervous because nothing in the store looked like my stone, but Raffi assured me that my elegant choice in stone and the orientation and designs I had chosen would go together wonderfully. ?He was so right! It took a few weeks for him to make the mold and the ring together, and in the mean-time I had altogether forgotten the minute details of my stone and the ring I had chosen. When I got back to the store, I took a seat and planned to wait until Raffi was finished working with another customer. Then as I looked back up at him, he brought out my ring and flashed it my way. My heart stopped, I began to sweat, and almost hyperventilated as I took in the beauty of what he had put together. Wow!!! My fingers shook as I put the ring on my sweaty finger. I cried like a baby for about 5 minutes and Raffi’s mom came out to wish me well. ?I will come back to Eli and Raffi and their kind mother again and again. For all my future jewelry, I will definitely trust these two for their hand-crafted, custom jewelry. ?I think I most enjoy how special they made me feel. I only hope this review does them justice.
My fiance and I went to Eli’s to find an engagement ring. We heard alot of good things about their quality and prices. ?Not only are their rings beautiful and a reasonable value, I love the fact that its a family business and you can work with the Mama and the brothers who are quite knowlegable. My ring in one word is Extraordinary!!! Bling, Bling, Bling!! I got my ring in Novemember and without exageration, EVERYDAY someone comments on how beautiful and sparkly my ring is. Its truely amazing and Dazzling.
This review is LONG OVERDUE, and I’m SOOO PLEASED to see that the family business that is Eli’s Jewelry has maintained a five-star rating on Yelp. I really could go on and on about how these folks make the stressful process of buying an engagement ring fun. They offer not only a quality product but an old school experience that, quite frankly, helps set the whole tone of popping the question. The bottom line here is that…she LOVES the ring…I mean, as in…I don’t think she even can believe how much she loves the ring…and I’m a post-hipster dick that was looking for the “perfect” vintage-y setting, etc., and I was so happy with the offerings at Eli’s.User reviews work… excellence is recognized… many blessings and thanks to the mother and the brothers of Eli’s…
I promised the guys at Eli’s that I would write up my experience at their store and, merely a month later, here it is.I went to Eli’s on the recommendation of my boss. ?My girlfriend’s birthday was coming up and since she had recently gotten her ears pierced (possibly with some encouragement from me…), some stud earrings seemed like a perfect gift.I had called ahead and talked to Eli about the size and quality that I thought I might be looking for. ?When I got to the store, he had the exact stones that we talked about ready to show me. ?I did some price comparisons online and Eli’s was very competitive with Blue Nile but with the added bonus of being able to see and feel exactly what you were buying. The surprising thing about my purchase was that the guys at the store tried to talk me into some cheaper earrings. ?They wanted to make sure that I wouldn’t have any regrets, which is an approach to customer service that I certainly appreciate. ?In the end, I went with the earrings I was initially interested in. ?They set them, cleaned them, and my girlfriend had a very nice birthday surprise.
My goodness shopping in downtown LA’s jewelry district is just a disaster waiting to happen! There are just way too many options and way too many vendors vying for your business. And if you don’t know your way around a diamond I could almost bet there may be one or two sketchy ones out there that swear you can trust them. That’s why we went on a referral. My then fiance now husband and I kept our eyes on the prize and went straight up to Eli’s to purchase our wedding bands. Eli’s is a family ran business and I can say that with much confidence because our referral came from a good friend of mine that got married over 7 years ago and yes, brothers Raffi and Eli are still there, more importantly they remember the most interesting details about our friend. They have a wide selection and can customize or make almost if not anything you care to bring in. Both Raffi and Eli were very helpful and informative and catered to both mine and my husband’s wants as to our bands. They have such complementary personalities as well which makes it quite entertaining and very comfortable especially when making such an important purchase. Raffi is definitely the creative and passionate about jewelry and Eli is your go to man when closing the deal. The quality of their products is truly superb! They mean what they say, they say what they mean. Their service is top notch, up front, and no frills and in the jewelry district that’s a diamond in the rough.
There is a reason why I’m the 42nd person to give a 5-star review, with no reviews of lesser stars! To continue would, at this point, be redundant. So, all I’ll say is that they assured me I would be very happy with them, and they are correct.Thank you, thank you, thank you.
Thanks to Eli’s, I’m rocking the perfect engagement ring (with the perfect matching band patiently waiting until the wedding)
My fiance found Eli’s through Yelp – we never imagined that we’d be buying our rings in downtown LA, but thanks to Yelp, we found Eli’s.We trekked over on a Monday, and after waging multiple mini-wars for parking meters in the nearby areas, we conceded, went into a paid lot and fessed up the $6-8 (don’t quite remember.) [As a side note, I'd recommend skipping the meter wars anyway since you might be in the store for a while...just go for the first reasonably-priced paid parking lot you see. The money you save at Eli's is worth the silly $8
]The store is located on the 2nd floor, and as soon as we walked in, we were greeted by Eli, Jr. I had a particular style in mind that I had seen from Robbins Bros. and showed him the printout. He immediately showed us ?their sample bands that were close, but not the same as the printout. I’m sure that, had I wanted the exact replica of the printout, they would have been more than happy to do so. However, after telling him some of my preferences (I didn’t want the engagement ring to be too high, etc.), he suggested that I go with a different style (a “basket” setting). Though I had never heard of this particular style, I trusted his judgment and was SO GLAD I DID. [I'll elaborate on this later]. I also wasn’t too fond of the side diamonds on their sample band going alllll the way around the finger (the setting he showed me had side diamonds going from approximately 9oclock-3oclock),to which Eli said “not a problem” and that they would take out a few from each side (which they did and looked exaaactly how I wanted it to!)Let me just say that, as an extremely picky person when it comes to jewelry, I would never have trusted anyone else to customize my engagement ring/wedding band without seeing EXACTLY how it would turn out. BUT, because of all of their glowing reviews, I decided that they know exactly what they are doing and to trust their judgment. Now, to the diamond selection. We had a price range in mind (~$2k-$3k for the wedding set). When we told him this, he let us know exactly how much the engagement and wedding bands would cost so we can determine the size/quality of diamond we could afford within our budget. He brought 2 sizes out at first, making sure we understood the specifications of each diamond, and basically how BALLIN these diamonds were compared to the one’s we’d usually find at Zales or Robbins Bros. And I guarantee you that you will see a difference in the diamond quality you’ll find at Eli’s. He encouraged us to look at the diamond from all different angles and in different light settings, and they were the prettiest, shiniest rocks I’d ever seen. There was no pressure at all from Eli to go over our budget, either. We were even discussing getting the higher carat diamond on our own, but he made sure to take off any pressure of going over our budget and even encouraged us to stay within it. We ended up going with the middle-sized diamond from the 3 he showed us, feeling satisfied at having made the choice OURSELVES instead of being harangued into buying the most expensive item offered (…like at Zales. cough.)While my fiance was having his ring size measured and deciding on his white gold band (which cost about half of what I expected..), I had a very nice conversation with Eli., Jr’s mother. She was a genuinely sweet person and reinforced the “family business” aspect of the store. All in all, we left the store very satisfied, but I was still a little bit nervous about how it’d turn out. Fast forward to exactly 11 days later, when the ring arrived! (Amazing turnaround time, btw.) And even though it doesn’t quite replicate the ring design I had initially brought to Eli, it was PERFECT. Eli and his brother were able to create the perfect ring for me without me even realizing what I truly wanted. I’ve already recommended them to a friend who’s THINKING about engagement. This is how happy I am with their work!Thank you, Eli’s Jewelry! You guys are PROS.
I had an exceptional experience at Eli’s purchasing my future fiancee’s engagement ring. ?They are extremely attentive and sensitive to your needs. ?I am a very particular person, and I spent hours looking over pricescope, bought my own ideal-scope, and read extensively about diamonds, cuts, and the intricacies of the diamond industry. ?To my surprise, they welcomed my questions, my ideal-scope, and they had their own hearts and arrows viewer that I could use. ?They competed well with all of the diamonds I was looking at online, and their prices are comparable to what you could find online. ? They never pressured me into buying anything more than I needed. ?For example, they would recommend gold over platinum (which would save me money) if they felt it was more appropriate for the ring. ?Also, they would recommend the less expensive setting if they felt it would look better on my girlfriend’s finger. ? In other words, they were very honest and straight forward in their dealings and their opinions. ?I would wholeheartedly recommend them to my friends and family. ?Their selection of bands and rings was expansive and they were obviously better than the majority of shops in the diamond district, as well as the boutique stores that I checked out. ?They have high quality products, and they are extremely trustworthy, and they conduct business in a professional and classy way. ?They are also a very sweet and kind family, and they actually care about what is going on in your life, and not about the sale. ?They would always ask how we were doing, how our parents were doing, and Eli’s mom would give us her advice on how to have a happy life. ?We appreciated her comments and thoughts, and their sincerity.Overall, I can tell you that my experience was superb, and this is my first Yelp review ever, because I really felt that I had a great experience worth noting. ?Eli’s is a hidden gem in the hustle and bustle of downtown. ?You all need to go there!
As a guy, an engagement ring is likely your biggest purchase outside of a car or a home. ?It can be very intimidating and since you probably don’t know much about diamonds (you haven’t spent a good portion of your life fantasizing about the ring like your potential fianc) so it’s easy to get ripped off. ?I get crazy when I hear about guys going to mall or retail jewelers and overpaying for low quality jewelry (e.g. a girl I worked with got a $10,000 Tiffany ring which you could barely see with the naked eye–you’re paying a premium for the pretty blue box). ?Eli’s is a really helpful, low pressure, family-run business. ?Though I didn’t buy an engagement ring there, over the past few years I have bought wedding bands and some other diamond jewelry for my wife (careful lads, once they get a taste for shiny objects it doesn’t go away). ?They have been very helpful and always work within budget and the pieces always appraised for higher than I paid. ?The family is really friendly, warm and funny. ?As they always tell me, “Happy wife. Happy life.” ?On a side note, don’t get all caught up with the idea that you have to drop a grip of money on an engagement ring. ?As long as you have good taste (get a second or third opinion if you’re not sure), ?your girl’s gonna love it.
My Fiancee and I needed both an Engagement Ring (and later-wedding bands) . . . everyone at Eli’s was very friendly (especially the mother Mrs.Eli?, who still works the counter daily with her two sons) and helpful. We found a great engagement ring within budget, and we are both very happy with our choice of Eli’s for such an important occasion. Whether you are rich and famous or an “average” customer, Eli’s makes you feel like you are the VIP. Their knowledge of their business is obvious from the moment you walk in. The friendliness of their service contrasts with the often pushy salesperson’s you find in this industry. I will be coming to downtown LA for my jewelry needs from Santa Clarita, from now on . . . I am a customer for life!Lance
Hands down the best jewerly place in the world.
Nice family owned business. Eli and Raffi are great to deal with. I had a custom ring made the way I wanted it and came out perfect. My wife absolutely loves her engagment ring and her wedding band.
I already reviewed Eli’s with respect to the stunning engagement ring they help me select for my fiance, but I just wanted to add that Eli’s is truly a place worth returning to time and time again. ?My wife is, obviously, thrilled with her engagement ring, but we were both extremely pleased with our experience when we went back to select wedding bands.Again, Eli, Raffi, and their mother helped us narrow down their extensive selection. ?They really never tried to “upsell” us for the purpose of increasing the bottom line — they focus instead on determining what you truly want and helping you make that a reality. ?Of course, the sizing was perfect, the pricing was extremely competitive, and they even polished her engagement ring in preparation for the wedding and it looked more beautiful than ever!Eli’s is definitely a place worth returning to!
Beautiful jewelry….and excellent service!
I found my jeweler for life.My husband and I bought our wedding bands here after looking at a few places we found on Yelp. The moment we walked into Eli’s, it felt good. They felt like family. It just felt right.I had originally thought we were only going to be able to do plain bands until I walked into Eli’s and fell in love with the most beautifully delicate band that had tiny diamonds and pink sapphires all around it. The settings matched my antique engagement ring perfectly and I fell in love all over again. The price was way higher than we could spend and I thought all was lost until Artemis, the matriarch, called her son, Raffi, over. He is the one who does the designing and he suggested we only do a half band of stones. He could continue the design all around without stones so we could set them later, if we wanted to. Or he offered to do a half shank (plain band) which would cut costs even further. It was perfect.Mind you, our wedding was only 2 weeks away and they said they would have the rings done in time, no problem. They were so sweet, insisting it was a pleasure and their honor to make our wedding rings. The moment he told us to wear them in good health, my heart melted. It felt so good ?I hated the idea of a cold, hard transaction. It made me remember what these rings really meant. They worked with us on price, too. And they treated us, a young, just starting off couple, just as well as the people next to us spending 20k on a ring. I saw us, in the future, being that couple with a young, just starting off couple having the same conversations next to us.Needless to say, my ring is freaking gorgeous – I can’t take my eyes off it. My husband’s white gold band is perfection. Exchanging those rings felt so good – and I think that had a small amount to do with Eli’s.Enjoy them in good health, we will, Raffi. Thank you so much!
Helpful, friendly, caring and honest.Everyone there made us feel great about making a purchase we felt daunted by. Highly recommended. A great family business.
We came across this place through yelp. ?The Jeweler we were initially going to see was closed because he observed the Sabbath. ?So we found Eli Jr. He was really helpful and taught us what to look for in a diamond. ?I looked at two loose diamonds. ?He has a good selection and sells good quality diamonds. ?He is honest and doesn’t do any “hanky panky.” ?Thanks to Eli Jr., I know what to look for in a diamond.
When I was looking for the perfect engagement ring, everyone told me to go to the jewelry district. However, if you have ever been to the jewelry district, choosing which store from the large number of options can be quite intimidating. ?Instead of checking out other stores, you can save your time by going straight to Eli’s Jewelry. They are a great family business with quality service and selection without the high markup.I first met with Artemis who was really sweet and helped me find a round solitaire ring that was simple and elegant. ?Her son Eli then helped me choose the best stone. ?During the entire time they were patient and did not pressure me at all. ?They also educated me with different tricks that other businesses use to make their diamonds look more flattering. ?They encouraged me to view the diamonds in various conditions and compare. When I was tempted to go a little beyond my budget, they encouraged me to stay within my budget with a smaller stone. ?When I proposed with a stunning D-color, round-cut, tiffany knife edge solitaire, she was absolutely thrilled! They really ensure peace of mind with your purchase. ?When I returned with my fiancee to get the ring resized, Raffi allowed us to try out a couple of sizes until we were fully satisfied. ?They even modified a couple of prongs to enhance the brilliance of the stone.Eli’s Jewelry has made both my fiancee and I very happy. ?Thank you Artemis, Eli, and Raffi!
They’re the best. ?Seriously. ?I am beyond picky and detail-oriented (no flaw goes unnoticed, unfortunately!). ?I showed them my engagement ring, and I told them what I was going for, and they had pieces that were close, but not quite perfect. ?The problems with my wedding band search were a) my engagement ring isn’t your typical, smooth ring, and therefore difficult to compliment, and b) I didn’t know exactly what I wanted. ?I know what I like, and I know what I don’t like, but I didn’t have an image in my head that they could just copy. ?This led to me feeling overwhelmed and uncomfortable speaking up at all the places we checked out beforehand. ?Instead of treating me like I was annoying them with my persnicketiness, they warmly (and actually enthusiastically!) listened to my “I like this, but what if we had this taller, as tall as my engagement ring? ?And could we have this be a sapphire with diamond combo instead of the pink stone,” etc… ?They even looked at my engagement ring and suggested designing (I’m not sure what the actual term is, but it’s hollowed out so it’s more delicate) the sides of the wedding band to compliment it, which was a beautiful touch. We were able to customize and blend styles to magically create a perfect piece to compliment both my personality and unconventional engagement ring. ?At first, I wasn’t 100% in love with the custom piece (believe me, it was beautiful, but again, Mrs. Picky over here), but they assured me that we would tweak it until I WAS in love. ?They listened to what I didn’t love and what I thought it was missing, and guess what? ?When I came back, it was absolutely perfect. Also, my husband’s ring is awesome and totally his style. ?For a guy who wears no jewelry, it’s really badass and simple at the same time. ?He loves his ring, and so do I.They (lovely mom and two sons) were patient, beyond kind (fed us like we were at home with our own mama!) and are FAIR and HONEST. ?There was a girl in there with her future fiance, and she was insisting on a certain number of carats, but her guy had a budget. ?Instead of just going with it and letting the girl live with her mistake, they gently, kindly tried to help her understand that she could get a much better quality, and therefore more beautiful, diamond if she didn’t focus on carats but on quality, but they were also sensitive to her desire to say “I have a ___ carat diamond.” ?They showed her the diamonds available in the price range for the size she wanted on a nifty computerized database that showed the 4 cs, an image of the inclusions etc… then they showed her if she went down even a tad, how much better the diamond would be overall. ?Cool! It’s a family business, we learned about the history of their family and the shop and they’re genuinely great and knowledgeable. ?We went to other jewelry places for our bands, and I couldn’t have been happier with our choice. ?And, cherry on the sundae of awesomeness? ?Our rings were more affordable than ANY of the other places we checked out. ?You can’t beat that.
Eli’s Jewelry gave me the best service and price for my weddng band!!! On my recent trip to California, I decided to give this place a shot after reading all of the positive yelp reviews. ?The family that runs this shop is super friendly and extremely helpful! I initially thought I wanted a custom made wedding band but after browsing thru their great selection of bands, I fell in love with one particular band. ?Being the cautious shopper that I am, I decided not to buy it upon my first visit. Raffi was not pushy at all and actually encouraged me to sleep on it! I went home, did some research among different online retailers and discovered that I received a very good price quote from Eli’s! I was elated and decided to return to the store the following day to make my purchase! ?Thank you Eli’s Jewelry for your wonderful jewelry and service!!!
Great customer service!! My fianc and I just purchased our wedding bands today. Good prices and deals on their items…I will definitely come back!
I can’t say enough good things about this place. They walked me through the entire process and were never pushy or overbearing. I did my homework for over 3 months researching online and going to different jewelers. I also talked to many friends who had gotten engaged and they recommended me to the Downtown Jewelry District. I went to 4 different Jewelry stores in the Downtown District and was won over by Eli’s. They were not wrong because not only was the selection at Eli’s great, but so were the prices. They are considerably less than the bigger chains like Robbins Bros etc and you get the same type of ring and diamond for a much cheaper price. Initially my fiance was shown a beautiful cushion cut and fell in love with it. It was a little over our budget and Eli’s instead showed us a princess cut that met our budget which was just as beautiful and he even told us that the princess cut looked better than the cushion. He could have easily pushed the more expensive cushion cut on us but instead he was honest and told us that the princess cut fit her better and she was smitten. I highly recommend this place.
Go to Eli’s if you’re looking for the very best in NON-CONFLICT CANADIAN diamonds! This was my first experience shopping for jewelry. My fiance’s only request was that her engagement ring be “non-conflict”. After hours of extensive online research, I came to the conclusion that the only source of traceable non-conflict stones come from Canadian mines. With research in hand, I headed down to the LA Jewelry district. One would think finding non-conflict stones in the jewelry district would be easy given the recent visibility to “conflict stones” vie a vie the Leonardo DiCaprio “Blood Diamonds” film. Not so! I visited a handful of highly rated jewelry stores and no one had “non-conflict” diamonds on hand, Eli’s included. Why go with Eli then? Three reasons.1) Service: From the moment I stepped into the shop, I could sense ?the utmost care and service with which Eli, Raffi and Ardemis provided. At no time did I ever feel pushed into a purchase. Eli took the time to carefully explain the in’s and out’s of choosing the right diamond. His knowledge and patience, especially for someone who had as many questions as I had, set me at ease. This is a mom and pop shop that values quality and service over quantity. They take the time to educate you about what you’re buying and then working within your budget to find you the very best stone possible.2) Quality: The “non-conflict’” Canadian diamonds that Eli selected from his vendors were a cut above everyone else’s. All of the diamonds were “Hearts and Arrows”, meaning perfect symmetry. The rocks were stunning and there were hardly any inclusions. I know what you’re thinking! If you willing to spend the money, anyone can find the very best for you. I agree if you’re talking about diamonds in general, but the same cannot be said about Canadian stones. There just aren’t many retailers in LA that can deal with them. Of all the shops I worked with, Eli was the only one that offered “hearts and arrows” Canadian stones. The difference main difference is that Eli provided me with the very best within my budget. He didn’t try to sell me a mediocre stone within budget or force me to move up in price to get better quality diamond. No. He got me the best stone within the price range I set.3) Price: Simply put, Eli’s offered the best quality stone at a very reasonable price. If I had gone with an online “non-conflict’” retailer, I would have easily paid 1-2K more. As you can see, I highly recommend Eli’s for your jewelry needs. If you’re looking for a non-conflict diamond in LA, he is your guy! My fiance and I will definitely be going back for our wedding bands! Eli, Raffi, Artemis: Thank you for everything!
absolutely AMAZING!!!!! I could go on and on about the high level of customer service. ?Raffi, Eli, and their mother (never did get her name) made the process of creating and selecting my fiancee’s band simple. ?They did a fabulous job and in a time crunch as well. ?In the end, the ring was PERFECTION. ?They definitely have a lifetime customer and many future referrals. Thanks again Eli’s Jewelry!!!!!!
I recently purchased my girlfriend’s (now fiancee’s) engagement ring. THANK YOU SO MUCH YELP! After perusing several jewelry shops and being highly unsatisfied with the experience….pushy salesman, low quality diamonds, etc. etc. We decided to go to Eli’s from the advice we read on Yelp. Let me tell you, this is jewelry store is hidden away on the second floor of Hill St. It is a small, family owned business who have been around for close to thirty years. The owner’s son talked to us for nearly an hour about how to rate a diamond and what kind of diamonds to look out for. After my fiancee found the diamond she wanted, we were quoted a very fair price. When we told them we wanted some time to think about it, they actually “encouraged” us to shop around some more. We didn’t find anything we liked nearly as much. About three weeks later we went back and purchased the diamond. Now, here is the best part. If you decide you want to get a different diamond sometime in the future, the store will actually credit you the value of your diamond towards the purchase of a new diamond (provided you don’t lose your GIA certification card.) If you are serious about finding a quality diamond at a great price, find this great store!UPDATE! 8/28/10 We went back to Eli’s to get our wedding bands. Their mother was there this time. Very sweet lady. Helped us pick out some great, high-quality rings at an affordable price. Anyone who is shopping for an engagement diamond should at least stop by this jewelry store and talk with Eli before making a final decision on a diamond. If nothing else, you’ll get a great education in order to make an informed decision on your purchase.
Read this carefully! Honesty, Quality and Pricing. ?These three accolades describe Eli’s Jewelry. ?Of all of the diamond merchants that I visited, Eli’s was thee most honest. ?They only carry GIA certified stones. ?They are honest to the point of being saintly. ?They will walk you through everyone of the 4 C’s of a diamond. ?This shows you how confident they are with the quality of their merchandise. ?Next, their quality is second to none. ?As I mentioned, they only carry GIA certified diamonds. ?They show you the certification and you can even see the laser engraving on the diamonds. ?This is the best quality that you can imagine. ?Finally, we have their pricing. ?These prices are the most fair that I’ve ever seen. ?I worked with Eli Jr. here. ?His prices were so good on the initial offer, that I was surprised. ?I asked him to hold the diamond, and then I checked the price against other GIA certified diamonds. ?Eli’s price was even less than the certification that I saw on http://bluenile.com (the gold standard on diamond pricing). ?Eli’s is so great with honesty, quality and pricing that you do not need to go anywhere else. ?I highly encourage you to work with Eli’s. ?You will not be disappointed.
I love Eli’s Jewelry! ?My friends and I chose to visit Eli’s based on the outstanding Yelp reviews. ?(Thank you fellow Yelpers for the reviews!). ?We (Sheryl, Allison, and I) shopped at Eli’s on Saturday, August 15 with a goal of assisting Allison in finding diamond earrings and a pendant for the Chinese Tea Ceremony on her wedding day. ?All of us agreed that Eli’s Jewelry is an exceptional jewelry store, and I am writing this review on their behalf as well. ?This review is for their service and price on the jewelry – specifically earrings and necklaces. ?Since our purpose was to shop for a diamond pendant and earrings, I cannot comment regarding the engagement rings and selections. ?But I am sure Eli’s is a great place for a gentleman to purchase a ring for his beloved based on the other Yelp reviews. ?SERVICE: ?Very helpful, no pressure, and did not try to over-sell. ?It is obvious Eli’s jewelry is a family-owned business, because during our visit we were assisted by the matriarch of the family, Aredemis, and her son, Eli Jr. ? ?Both were kind and lovely people. ?Moreover, I appreciated that the grandsons (middle-school aged) were dutifully doing their homework at the back of the shop. ?It was exciting to shop at a thriving family-owned store who can compete against the online, mall, and the over-hyped, over-marketed, and overly-expensive jewelry stores. ?(You know the ones I am taking about, especially if they come in a blue box with a white satin bow). ?The whole family KNOWS their jewelry and, with 30 years in the jewelry business, every customer is receiving a lifetime of knowledge and experience when they purchase jewelry from Eli’s. ? Another characteristic of Eli’s is they are very honest. ?If the jewelry piece looks too big (even if they have the ability to sell it) and gaudy, they will tell you to not buy it. ?Allison, Sheryl Silver Jewelry, and I shopped at other stores in the area as well. ?But we returned to Eli’s Jewelry for Allison to purchase her custom diamond stud earrings and 3-diamond pendant necklace. ? Eli was really patient with Allison because she had difficulty deciding which diamonds to choose for the earrings. ?After she made her decision, he kindly sent the rocks to be set in earrings. (The setting process took less then 15-minutes.) ?In addition, Sheryl was able to get her diamond engagement ring cleaned. ?It looked really dirty. ?Both, Eli and Aredemis, tried to hand clean the ring, but they decided that it needed to undergo “the cleaning machine” upstairs. ? Yes, it was THAT dirty. ? (BTW: ?It was dirty from the mud bath and spa we visited from the day before.) ?After Sheryl’s ring received a free deep-cleaning, we all decided that when it’s my turn to get married one day, Lord Willing, I’ll have to make a visit to Eli’s too. ?PRICE: ?The prices are amazing at Eli’s. ?Do not even dare to go to a mall jewelry store. ?The quality is comparable to a higher-end jewelry store, but with better service and prices. ?Since it’s family-owned and does not rely on marketing for business, then the customer receives a better deal on their jewelry. ?More importantly, the whole family stands by their products. ?This type of commitment is non-existent with most of the “bigger” stores. ? ?If diamonds are a girl’s best friend, then all your friends are waiting for you at Eli’s Jewelry!
Very helpful. ?I don’t have many experiences buying jewelry but I was going to do anything except a standard retail store. ?We went downtown and found Eli’s. ? First time in the store, they spent at least an hour and a half with us just educating us and showing various things. ?Then, four months later, from 500 miles away, I ordered an expensive engagement ring over the phone, paid for it sight unseen, and had it shipped to me via FedEx. ?It turned out better than I hoped for and the whole thing went very well. ?Now the fiance is extremely happy and so am I. ?I’ve been back to the store a couple times and everyone else in there is a repeat customer and had nothing but good things to say.
Thanks to my fellow Yelpers, I went straight to Eli’s and found a great ring with outstanding, custom-made character. I appreciated the family that runs this place and their knowledge and experience. Very charming, helpful people.
I love, love, love Eli’s Jewelry! My fiance bought a loose diamond and had it put in a temporary setting so that he could propose and we could choose the actual ring together. We looked at many different stores in Seattle (where we are from) and Los Angeles and finally found one that we liked. At the last minute, we decided to look at the jewelry district before making our final decision and I’m very gald that we did. I looked on-line at reviews and saw that Eli’s were great, so we went in and were not disappointed. They took the time to answer all of our questions and explain our options. They even talked us into paying less for a white gold band rather than splurging on platinum. I felt like I could really trust them. I’ve never had someone try to convince me to spend LESS money! I had initially wanted a Beverly K ring, but after seeing those next to the beautiful ones made by Eli’s jewelry, I changed my mind quickly. Using a display ring as our guide, we designed a setting to fit my stone (rectangular cushion cut) and changed it enough to make it our own. The price was half of what we were quoted by the other jeweler even though it’s so much more beautiful and had even more diamonds! I was amazed when they said the ring would be done in two weeks (other stores had estimated 6), but they surprised me and had the final setting and wedding band done it a week! When I saw the final ring I was so happy that I started crying. I never thought I would have such an amazingly beautiful, stunning ring. I get compliments on it all the time and could not be happier. We will definitely go back for my fiance’s wedding band! I would recommend Eli’s Jewelry for anyone looking for beautiful, one of a kind jewelry at a great price and topnotch costumer service.
Every positive thing that has been said about Eli’s on here is 100% true. My fiance and I chose to go to Eli’s based on the reviews we saw here on yelp and I must say we were not disappointed! I highly recommend them to anyone who is looking for jewelry, engagement ring etc.
When my husband and I got married almost seven years ago, we did not purchase a diamond ring for practical reasons. ?I never stopped wanting one and while we still did not have a practical reason, the time seemed right…or at least, he relented. My husband was wise enough to check reviews as the jewelry district has a mind bending number of stores. ?From the reviews, Eli’s fit our criteria the best and we were not disappointed. ?We loved that it was a family owned business that survives on its reputation for quality and customer service. ?Lovely mom, Ardemis and sons Eli, Jr and Raffi were wonderful. ?Mom is the heart of the store and we worked with Eli, Jr. who was patient and an obviously an expert at his business. They seemed to treat everyone that was there with the same degree of attentiveness and really took the intimidation factor out of the process. I found the perfect diamond and setting and was thrilled to find that my ring could be set while we enjoyed lunch around the block. They will be our jewelers for life. ?At least, I hope there is more jewelry in my future. ?Thanks to the entire fanily and I am so glad that Yelp can help lead customers your way!
This business is top notch. They deserve every 5 star rating they get. Very helpful in choosing the right jewelry, lots of helpful information on what you are choosing and why. Great product, great family, and beautiful work provided. I look forward to coming back again. Thanks again!
My husband and I bought our wedding bands there. ?They are super helpful, and willing to take their time to help you get exactly what you want, even if they have to custom make what you need. Very reasonable prices when compared with the mall or other high end jewelry shops. ?I sent a friend there, and they made her a beautiful custom ring set with her grandmother’s diamond . ?If you are exploring the downtown jewelry district, definatlely check out this service-oriented, family business. It’s up on the second floor of the building, so you have to make an effort to go there–you might miss it if you are just window shopping on Hill.
A wonderful family- owned and run store. They were warm and welcoming and helped my fianc and I find the perfect wedding bands. Affordable and with a quick turn around too. A perfect, stress free experience.
After comparing several stores in the Jewelry District for an engagement ring, I settled on Eli’s and couldn’t be happier. I showed them a couple of photos of what I wanted and they worked with me to design it down to every last detail. The work was fast (done in 2-3 weeks) and the price was good. Thanks Raffi & Eli and we will definitely be back for wedding bands!
I heard about Eli’s through a family friend and after shopping around online and in other mall type jewelry stores I decided to make the drive into LA while in So Cal on business. ? What an amazing place. Eli and Raffi greeted me as I came in and almost immediately offered me something to drink and a pastry. ?They weren’t pushy at all, like I had experienced at other jewelry stores. They offered me a great price on a fantastic ring and worked with me to make the perfect ring for my now fiance. ?They showed me a huge variety of settings, and a variety of diamonds. After we picked out all of the components, Eli quoted me a fantastic price. Almost 20% less than what I had seen at other stores. ?The most amazing experience! ? We plan on going back to get my ring and to get her wedding band! ? If I could give them a sixth star I would!
I was sent to Eli’s based on a personal recommendation from a friend at work. My friend had been going to Eli for years and had nothing but great things to say about the place. I had been to other places looking for an engagement ring, but I never felt like the people in the other jewelry stores knew what they were talking about. Eli and his brother Raffi explained everything I needed to know and answered all my questions. Eli’s has a nice family business feel to it and since I bought the engagement ring I’ve gone back for wedding bands and will go back again for anything I might need in the future! Highly recommended, you won’t be disappointed.
We just picked up my wife’s ring. It is stunning, everything she wanted and more. Thanks once again to all at Eli’s.
I have three important words to say: ?TRUST ELI’S JEWELRY. ?My husband and I was first referred by a co-worker to Eli’s 10 years ago when we got engaged. ?We didn’t have a jeweler at that time and knew that we didn’t want to pay retail. ?So, we went to Eli’s and have never purchased a piece of jewelry anywhere else since. ?I’ve also referred over five friends there that have made major purchases and have been very pleased and they too have adopted Eli’s as part of their family when it comes to making jewelry purchases. ?Eli’s is a family owned business. ?Father, mother and the two brothers come each day to run the business to greet it’s customers with a smile and provide honest service. ?There is NEVER any pressure when you go there. ?They educate you on what you are buying so that you can make the right choices for your budget. ?Please give them a try! ?- Rick and Chizuko Petersen
this place is worthy of it’s 5 stars and then some…
