Apple Cutting Some Software and Peripherals From Retail Store Displays?
The Loop reports that Apple is planning to cut significant numbers of software titles and peripherals from its retail store sales floors, moving to free up space to accommodate the more extensive Personal Setup service for Macs launched in January. Among the products that will no longer be displayed in the retail stores are printers, scanners and possible some hard drives. These peripherals will still be stocked in the store and available if a customer requests them. At the point of sale, the Apple salesperson will still recommend the customer purchase one of those peripherals if they feel it fits in with the customers purchase. According to my sources, Apple is also getting rid of up to 32 game titles from its retail locations. That would reduce the number of games being displayed in the stores to around 8 per store.

Continuing in what appears to what might become a regular series with me, I’ll share how you can use your Flair buttons for more than just scrapbooking layouts! To catch up, you might want to revisit the details on my first Flair button project. Using the Kaleidoscope 5×7 Cardstock Pad, I punched a scallop shape to back my Flair button necklace with, as you see above. The darling button, which is actually sticky backed, also comes from the Kaleidoscope collection and can be found in the Flair Pack. With some DIY jewelry supplies and E6000 glue to hold the pin more securely on the back of the Flair Pack button, I backed the Flair button with more cute paper from the Kaleidoscope collection. If you prefer not having a contrasting paper design behind your Flair button, just use a smaller punched circle instead. To make the necklaces a bit more kid-friendly, I made one for my oldest daughter using some gold-toned stretch string, also found in the jewelry making section of your local hobby store.

Making something useful out of acrylic scraps From a recent project we ended up with a few hundred scraps of acrylic, mostly in little squares like these. But what to do with all those scraps? We collected them into eight groups and mixed and matched the different pieces until each stack was the same height. (The thickness of cast acrylic tends to vary a bit.) We mostly used the clear pieces but threw in a few bright ones for effect. We ran a bead of acrylic cement down the side of each stack to bond them together, making rigid crystalline blocks. Of course, you needn’t make simple stacks.

What I’ve Been Up To….
Howdy everyone. I have been very busy (and poor Barnum has been very bored), working on a project that is close to my heart. It’s even is relevant to my theme of Lyme and MCS awareness posts for the month of May, because it’s about a friend with Lyme and MCS! In the past week or so, I created (okay, I had some help) an entire blog! No, not just a post, a blog. And it has nothing to do with dogs,* if you can believe it! But it does have to do with me finding real pleasure in being able to do something worthwhile for a friend, for finding that there are still challenging tasks I can do from bed, and realizing that there are still good people in the world. And, for once, to feel like I can do something when a friend is struggling.
